Curriculum

We believe that at Newman Catholic College every young person has an entitlement to the “powerful knowledge “that will transform their lives. Moreover, not only will this “ powerful knowledge “  liberate their minds but crucially will provide the ability for our young people to engage critically with the world and respond as engaged and active citizens.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum that seeks to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure that every pupil has the opportunity to live life to the full. We recognise the challenges of growing up in Brent and believe that education is the main way in which pupils can overcome social disadvantage. Our curriculum offers a pathway to a better life and endeavours to promote social justice and the common good .Further our curriculum encompasses every element of our flourishing, inclusive and happy school. It lies at the heart of our vision statement that “Everyone counts, everyone contributes, and everyone succeeds “and is the foundation of our “Newman Values”

The curriculum allows each student to experience a broad, balanced, insightful and challenging curriculum whilst developing their interests and talents to the best of their potential.

We follow the national curriculum and this is reviewed annually.

The curriculum is organised into a two week timetable and lessons are taught in one hour periods. Most lessons are taught in singles and in doubles for relevant practical lessons.

At NCC we aim for each of our boys to experience a broad, balanced, insightful and challenging curriculum whilst developing their interests and talents to the best of their potential.
